The Banner series deconstructs our culture's use of politically charged language to influence others. "Freedom," "Progress" – these are words which those in power use uncritically to sell their goals and lifestyles to the masses. When given the sentence fragment "Freedom From," the viewer is encouraged to consider what freedom means to them, whether Libertarian, Liberal, Conservative, or otherwise.
In FREEDOM FROM, an unknown off-screen character, satisfied with the status quo, attacks such introspective deconstruction, attempting to prevent others from looking too deeply into their own philosophy.
In ART FOR, UM..., the role of the art market and art magazines in the production of artwork is critiqued.
